We had a great time with Yu exploring Kyoto. We thoroughly enjoyed having a guide to ourselves to ask any questions and take photos for us. We would be interested in doing more tours with Yu if we are able to return to Japan at another time to experience the traditional arts and crafts in Kyoto. Thank you again. We had a great time.
My husband Keith, and I have just returned from an amazing trip to Japan. During that time we spent a week with Yu from Kyoto Hands On Tours in Kyoto and Mt Koya. We couldn’t have had a more pleasant, knowledgeable and empathetic guide than Yu, from pushing Keith in a wheelchair, or walking slowly so that K wasn’t pressured. Yu helped me searching for woodblock prints and NOTHING was too much trouble. We enjoyed his knowledge of Japanese history, cuisine, culture and sport. Being with Yu was like having a good friend show you around his part of the world. We have no hesitation in recommending Kyoto Hands On Tours for first timers or returners!
Thank you, Christine R, for writing such a wonderful review. First and foremost, I greatly appreciated your warm, friendly personalities. I’m also very happy to hear you enjoyed Japan as well as your husband, Keith. That is the only thing that matters to me and HANDS ON JAPAN (aka Kyoto Hands On Tours). Guests’ comfort and safety are always my first priority, so it was an easy decision to adjust the plan a bit and slow down even at the expense of the agreed itinerary with your local agent. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any fun at all. Being able to make a change on the spot is one of the major strong points of a small company like HANDS ON JAPAN. Finally, I’d like to add that I had a good time as much as you did and all the credits to you! See you again in Australia!
Our guide Yusuke is a competent, very pleasant city- and culture-guide. He knows a lot about culture, sports, history, sights etc. and leaves you enough space to live out your own interests. Many thanks to you; we are happy to recommend you. We booked an eight-hour tour, which is definitely worth it.
Thank you Thomas for the review. I’m very happy to hear you enjoyed the day. HANDS ON JAPAN highly values introducing Japanese culture as a whole whenever we can, let alone guiding guests from a place to another. I also had fun getting to know your personality and the life in Switzerland. Not just a city guide tour you had, we also have many hands on experience tours on offer in which you meet a local artisan. Next time you come to Kyoto, how about give it a try?
Had the best time with Yusuke in both Kyoto & Hiroshima (where Iko joined us with her wealth of knowledge). I fell in love with Japan and the experiences have left me wanting to come back for more. As guides Yusuke & Iko shared their knowledge so gently & their English is superb. In fact, it felt more like we came to Japan, met with our friends & they showed us around. Loved the Okonomiyaki for lunch, so delicious & authentic … and also away from the crowds of other tourists. Thank you … highly recommended.
Hi, Sandy. Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Iko and I are quite happy to hear you enjoyed the tour. Over the course of two days I’d felt so lucky to have such a nicest people around like you as my tourists and also impressed with your eagerness to learn new culture and patience (travel takes a lot of energy). Please do come back to Japan as the country has so much more to offer you, and I would be honored if you choose HANDS ON JAPAN again.
Your friend, tour guide,
HANDS ON JAPAN
Thank you for your professional and very informative guide around Kyoto 12 and 13 January this year.
Yusuke, the guide was very informative and efficient in getting us around all the temples and shrines and went to great lengths to ensure we were happy and covering all the areas we were wishing to see.
I can recommend HANDS ON JAPAN to any tourist without hesitation and wish you all the best for the future.
Thank you James and of course Jemma and Sophie for letting your precious 2 days be the hand of HANDS ON JAPAN. Yes, we did cover everything you’d wished to see within 2 days, but as you know there is so much more to do and see in Kyoto that I still discover new things about Kyoto every day.
Blessed with distinctive four seasons, Kyoto awaits you with a seasonal beauty any time of the year!
Do come back to Kyoto to explore the city more with HANDS ON JAPAN!
See you soon!
I had a wonderful time in Kyoto and my experience was far more interesting than even what I had thought of.
My guides (Yusuke and Kazu) really took very good care of me and I can definitely say TWO THINGS:
I am looking forward to come to Kyoto again (to experience Spring)ANDI have a very good friend in India, USA, Australa and Belgium, now I have TWO very good friends in Kyoto also.
Thanks again for everything.
Thank you very much Mehta for leaving your life changing solo travel to Kyoto to Hands on Japan. Also, I am very honored to be called a very good friend of you.
What a wonderful 2 days we had! The autumn foliage we saw was easliy one of the best I’ve seen before. But you know what, spring in Kyoto gives us a whole lot different experience with brethtaking cherry blossoms throughout the town!
See you soon, Mehta!
Many thanks for your professional service while we were in Kyoto. Minoti, my wife, greatly appreciates the care that you took of her during the entire stay. Our Sightseeing at Kyoto would not have been as enjoyable without you and your efforts in making Minoti comfortable.
Thank you very much Nihad and Minoti for using HANDS ON JAPAN and letting us handling as many as 4 days of your stay in Kyoto. I was very relieved and happy that the autumn leaves had just set in in time for your early November visit. I myself enjoyed the view very much.
HANDS ON JAPAN is definitely looking forward to your next visit in spring for a cherry blossom viewing in Kyoto!
Till then, best of luck for your life in India!
